QUESTION / ANSWER

How much does Navimail cost?

Security bulletins, observed satellite images and short-range préisos (observed and forecasted pressure charts) are sent freely by Météo-France, i.e with only transmission’s costs (the size of a bulletin is about 2 Kb, that of an image 20 Kb).
Please note that “Weather informations by e-mail must not in any case take place of watching carefully the GMDSS security bulletins (broadcasted by MRCCs on VHF and SSB, Navtex or Inmarsat-C).

Files (Grib format) are billed 0.15 cent (i.e 0.0015 euro) by gribs point, by parameter and by range. The interface provides you an estimation of the cost, separating the cost of the meteorological products and the cost of the transmission by the way you’ve chosen. So, you can watch the cost of your order before sending it.
Please note that the transmissions cost is based on France Telecom peak-time prices and doesn’t include dial-in time.

If you’re a France Telecom’s customer (your mail’s address is of the type my.boat@inmarsat.francetelecom.fr or a Skyfile address), you will be billed by France Telecom on your usual bill.
